Intimacy with God . . . it’s the heart cry of every follower of Christ. Even those far from God know they were created for a deeper connection and long for a love that can fill their souls.

Every Son and Daughter wants a close relationship with their Father. They want to be connected to their Creator. But somehow we’ve come to believe that access to God’s presence is some rare thing. That it is reserved for a special few—for pastors, prophets, or the “chosen ones.”

But that couldn’t be further from the truth.

God wants intimacy with every one of His children, including you. He desires to be brought into your world because every detail matters to Him. Often we forget about God’s nearness or even choose to leave Him out of the details of our lives, closing the door in His face. Other times we reduce our interactions with Him to a checklist.

Imagine a marriage where acts of love were viewed as tasks to be checked off by the end of the day:

Woke up and made coffee for my spouse.
Told my spouse “I love you” at least three times.
Gave them a kiss goodnight.

THAT’S JUST RIDICULOUS! But do we do this with God?

Read my Bible for fifteen minutes.
Prayed this morning.
Thanked God for my food.

There’s freedom when we stop treating intimacy with God like something we have to do and start looking at it as something we get to do. The fact is, God wants to do it ALL alongside us . . . every second of every day. He doesn’t want to be confined to a checklist.

This might feel funny and even seem a bit odd, but we would like to challenge you this week to talk to God like He were right next to you (because He is). Invite Him into the smallest and biggest moments of your day.

As you do this,
you will find that you are growing familiar with His voice and your intimacy with Him will grow.

One last thing, please make sure you pick up Practicing the Presence of God and see if you can beat my record of reading it in five hours . . . or was it 30 days?

We believe that God is going to radically move in your life this week, and we are praying that you will feel the intensity of His intimacy like never before!

Amazing! Seriously, i’m convinced life with God is all about knowing the heart of God. and constantly being changed by His grace. Intimacy with God is the source of life and reaching the gospel onto the ends of the earth! Thank you for being a faithful man of God in our generation, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” matthew 9:37-38

Brooke, we have the same favorite books! I was actually named after Elizabeth too. ☺️ (Arden is pretty wise but he’s confused on the Pride and Prejudice front)
Also, thanks for sharing some wise insight on the intimacy with God!

  3. Thank you Arden for following after God on this idea for Sons and Daughters. I found out about this listening to the most recent Messenger podcast. I am 41 years young so it doesn’t matter how young you are – these videos and content are very encouraging and inspirational. They release a hunger to seek after Him, which is the point Amen. I have been to Messenger in Palmer Lake and had the team pray over me. My marriage began to change after that so I am eternally grateful to this ministry. Proud of you and the team.
Side note: I signed up via email yesterday and I haven’t received anything. I want to make sure I don’t miss another episode.
    Son of the King!

Hey Chad! Thank you for your message and you are right! Doesn’t matter how young you are, and how amazing about your marriage. God is so good! I want to make sure but have you been getting our emails? If not I will have our team look into it right away.

  4. Thanks for reminding me what it’s all about!! Lately, I have been trying to get close to God through a checklist and forgot about just being his bride and inviting him into every moment. I will definitely read the book!

  5. It is so amazing how God speaks to us globally. I live in South Africa and just last night at our prayer meeting and worship practice God was saying the same thing to us about infancy with Him.

I have truly been inspired and encouraged by your messages. S&D has such an amazing calling. God has called you for such a time as this! Be blessed!

  6. Wow. Thank you so much for sharing this! You two are full of such wisdom…

  7. I am amazed at God! I had a few weeks ago mentioned on doing a video on how to walk in God’s presence all day long… a few days after that he moved me to buy the exact book you recommended!!! I didn’t read the whole thing through yet, but it’s amazing! Thanks Arden and Brooke!!! Bless you guys!

So great! Thank y’all for echoing what the Lord says about intamacy with Him! Y’all are doing an incredible job and I am so thankful that y’all have this! It blesses me and I know it blesses so many others. Thank you for sharing the heart of our Father 🙂

  9. Thanks guys, really appreciated this one – good reminders for what should be such a fundamental part of our lives.
Also really enjoying the book recommendations you’ve been doing lately!

  10. Thankyou!

I absolutely love this. I’ve seen the truth of this manifested in my own life. I used to check off all those points and then go on with my day. But when I sought to invite God into every moment, constantly renewing my mind and leaning on Him, He showed me that my confined definition of “intimacy” was ever so limited. He is an unlimited God desiring to take us on a greater adventure than we can even comprehend. Thank you for these videos, they have encouraged me so much and I look forward to them every week!

I love that! We are the only ones that can limit God’s involvement into our everyday life. Happy to hear that the videos have been encouraging you!
