Regardless of your relational status, take a moment to celebrate the people you love this Valentine’s Day. Yes, this may be a corporate holiday invented by Hallmark, but why shouldn’t we put it to good use?
After all, love is supposed to be what we’re all about—all day, every day.
So what exactly is love? In short, it’s a choice and a feeling. Yes, it’s both. Sure it often just feels like a feeling, but it cannot be sustained as a mere feeling.
True love breathes intentionality. If the purpose of love is the wholeness of its beloved (which it is), then love will require sacrifice, pain, and patience. That’s why we see all three of these in the ultimate act of love—the Cross.
Before the beginning of time, God was crafting a glorious love story—a love story whose width and depth expand with each generation. And now we, God’s sons and daughters, are invited to be His storytellers, revealing His love to a world desperate for something more.
So get out there and find someone who really needs you to intentionally love them.
