I’ve interacted with a lot of people my age and younger over the past couple of years. When I ask what God is doing in their life, they normally give me the same answer:

God just has me in a season of doing nothing . . . I’m just waiting on and pursuing Him.

Several years ago I felt like God was leading me to do this as well. It sounded good and godly in theory, but it was a cover up. The truth is God had put dreams in my heart. But every time I started pursuing these dreams, I would get afraid and give up.

I say this lovingly, but there’s a good chance your “waiting on the Lord” is a disguise for “I am afraid.”

It’s easy to just say, “Get over your fear!” but shouldn’t we ask, Why are we so afraid? I believe the answer is found in the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25). In this story, the master (God) gives three of his servants talents to steward. Two of the servants multiply their talents, but the third buries his. When the master asks the third servant to give a summary of what he did with the talent, here is how the servant replies:

“‘Master, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops you didn’t plant and gathering crops you didn’t cultivate. I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.’” (Matthew 25:24–25 NLT)

The servant believed the master was harsh so he became afraid and hid his talent. Fear oftentimes takes root because of our perception of God. We are afraid because we believe God is harsh and looking for a chance to punish us. This belief will cause us to hide our gifts, our talents, our passions, and our dreams.

But here’s the truth: God is not against you—He is for you. He knows you are going to face challenges in life, so the most frequent command He gives us is, “Do not be afraid.”

If you have found yourself struggling with fear, I encourage you to step out in faith. As you do, feed on God’s love and faithfulness (a sign of His faith in you). You will learn how much courage God has put within you and how much God is for you!

P.S. Here is a little motivation as you face your fears.

**Disclaimer don’t vlog and drive…unless you’re Austin**

  1. I’m Blown Away!! Speechless. These words were soothing et encouraging to my trembling heart.

I went camping by the ends of July @ Christopher Creek in Payson, Arizona et heading back home I decided to listen to my new favorite station The Messenger Podcast. “What are you giving your strength to?”, was my choice of the day et I was please to realize that my Father God was speaking to me.

I realized this time in my life was my moment to press in, tap into God’s unlimited love et power. However, sometime in the realization until now, I find myself avoiding my secret place. Confused and wondering “Why am I not there now?”

Et here I am today being ask ” What am I so afraid of?” If only good could come out of spending time with Him.

I felt myself repeating what David Gutierrez stated in “Are you afraid the light?” Podcast session, “I’ve been afraid to come to God..coming to Him openly..you know there’s stuff that has to be addressed and you know He’s not going to be silent of that because He loves us to much to leave us the way that we are.”

He loves me too much to leave me fearful. Et here is God showing up again. Whispering His love in a LOUD obvious way thru His messengers.

It’s True! YOU;Messenger International, You are positioning me to experience God’s BEST in my life et in my world.

P.S. Today God introduced me to this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0wpP5o7xpI Coincidence? I don’t think so.

P.P.S. I don’t know where I was last year when these particular podcast were released but I’m so happy they spoke to me right where I am now.

    Thank You.

That’s really good Austin! Sometimes you just gotta do it afraid and watch God come through! it builds your trust in him too! Good word brotha!

  3. Thank you for your authenticity Austin! It’s amazing to see how you and your family encourage so many people in God’s family, just by reading these comments. Thank you for your obedience in sharing this personal, yet inspiring testimony of God’s faithfulness in the midst of our fears, with the world. It reminded me again of how there are 365 times in the Bible where scriptures say: “Do not be afraid,” – once for every day of the year. God is unchanging, therefore unfailing. I too needed this message and God definitely touched my heart with it & spoke directly at the lies I’ve been telling myself. Thank you Austin and Bevere family – may God keep on blessing you and your ministry abundantly!
